The Beehive Tomb of Pomorie (Kuhata Mogila): An architectural marvel of late Roman-Thracian engineering, featuring a hollow central pillar that expands into an umbrella brick dome.

The Ancient Beehive Tomb (Kuhata Mogila)

Situated in an orchard west of the Pomorie-Burgas highway, the Thracian Beehive Tomb dates to the 2nd to 4th centuries CE. It is widely regarded as one of the most enigmatic architectural structures in the Balkans.

Visitors walk through a 22-meter stone dromos corridor into a circular chamber measuring 11.6 meters in diameter. Rising from the center is a massive hollow brick column (5.5 meters tall) that flares outwards like a mushroom or palm tree, merging with the circular vaulted ceiling. Inside the hollow column, a spiral staircase once allowed priests to perform mystery cult rituals.

Pomorie Salt Lake & Museum of Salt

Pomorie Lake is an 8.5-square-kilometer hyper-saline lagoon that has produced sea salt for over twenty-five centuries. The Museum of Salt preserves working historical salterns, wooden sluice gates, and authentic rail carts used to harvest salt.

Adjacent modern balneology centers and sanatoriums utilize the lake's rich black estuary peloid to treat musculoskeletal, neurological, and respiratory ailments under certified clinical supervision.
